Many of you might not be interested in topic but I am writing this study plan after getting dozens of requests from my readers and followers who failed in many competitive exams.

Resources

Useful resources

  • The Hindu and Indian Express - Best study material for English language. Read Editorial page everyday.
  • GK Digest, a monthly online magazine for GK
  • Online test series - Buy 2-3 good test series ! Every test series will make an impact on your score.
  • Various useful Facebook pages.

Wasteful resources

  • Books by BSC publications and Kiran prakashan. BSC always try to write thousands of shortcut techniques, learning all those techniques is not possible. Let's take an example of M.Tyra's Quicker Maths, he shared many Vedic maths tricks in first chapters but it won't improve your score at all. Avoid it at any cost.
  • Model papers by Arihant. They are outdated!
  • All the books that are useful for CAT, because CAT is still harder than Bank exams. While in bank exams you need Speed!
  • Printed magazines - I don't find anything interesting in any printed magazine for bank exams.
  • Avoid Word Power Made Easy. It is a good book but at the same time it's lengthy.

Where to Start

English

  • Start reading The Hindu or Indian Express from Day 1. This is the most important part for preparations.
  • Reading comprehensions are most important part of English section. RCs test your reading speed and grasping ability. While in an exam there can be RCs from sports, fiction, non-fiction, economics or even history. You should be comfortable with any topic.
  • If you don't know the basic grammar rules then don't feel ashamed of reading a VIIIth NCERT. It's better to improve then to avoid.
  • Cloze test is the simplest part of the exam. Never skip this part. It takes a couple of days to practice this part. It brings you 5-10 marks in the exam.
  • Learning a Vocabulary list is important from examination point of view. Learn 4-5 vocabulary daily. If you are looking for a boring way, then download any Vocabulary List.

Quantitative Aptitude

  • Most of you might be spending 90% of your time in preparation of this section.
  • Start your preparations from scratch. Even if you think everything is simple. You need to be in the top 1% strata so learn it properly. This section will take around 40-50 days
  • Watch videos on YouTube or download notes. There is no need of coaching, all you need is internet. Never make fun of IIN, read success stories, you will find that most of the successful candidates prepared with the help of Internet and without any coaching institute. Many of you might have wasted lot of money with coaching institutes. Don't waste more money in coaching centers!
  • Practice makes a man perfect. You heard this many times before, it's time to think upon it!
  • There are just 15 chapters and it's all about learning a few dozen of logics. Rest depends upon your problem solving speed.
  • Data interpretation is an important part. Make sure you solve kind of DI set, that's it! Nothing else for DI.

Reasoning

Biggest problem that students feel is that they don't give time to this section. Cutoff remains really low for this section.

Many students face problem in solving Circular Seating Arrangement sets. Download pdf with some tricks from here.

Syllogism is an important part of this section. It gives easy 4-5 marks and takes less time to solve.

Marks rich parts of this sections

  • Like various current affairs page on Facebook, if you use it daily. This way will be in touch with daily news more often. Like us on facebook, we post daily current affairs on our page.
  • Continue above steps till IBPS PO V exam, I don't think anything else is required for GK section

Update - In this article, I openly criticized many well known books. I personally feel that these books doesn't help a student to improve his/her score within a time span of 2-3 months.
